Ms. Crystal Tan has been working actively with educators, children and families for more than a decade. She has an extensive knowledge of the Early Childhood field, as well as a vast experience working in both local and international preschool settings.
Crystal found her calling to work with young children while she was volunteering in a Family Service Centre for under-privileged preschoolers. The experience gained helped her to realize the importance of a good education and a strong partnership between the school and home setting, which would affect a young child’s enthusiasm and love for life-long learning. Crystal is also a strong advocate for active learning and believes children should learn through meaningful play and concrete experiences.
Crystal followed her passion and obtained her Diploma in Early Childhood Teaching and Leadership from Ngee Ann Polytechnic. She graduated with a Merit and worked with an international school upon graduation. To equip herself with the knowledge and skills to be a better educator and leader in the field, Crystal went on to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College. She was awarded with a scholarship by NTUC Childcare Co-operative Ltd. Crystal believes in staying abreast of changes and practices in the Early Childhood Field, and is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Education with Boston University.
In Mosaic Kindergarten, Crystal oversees the school’s daily operational needs, curriculum planning, the interactions with parents, as well as to provide mentorship to the educators under her dynamic team that will widen their teaching pedagogies. Adopting the belief of an old African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child”, Crystal considers Mosaic Kindergarten as the best place in creating a conducive environment and fostering a strong partnership with parents and the community that will nurture children to become confident, respectful and successful individuals.
